Pumpkin is becoming the new favorite in healthy dog snacks. Have you noticed how many treat companies are adding a pumpkin treat to their line? It's no wonder. This vegetable is fiber-rich, full of anti-oxidants and beta-carotene, and low calorie. It's a perfect snack for a fit fido.
Here in Florida the weather is still plentiful warm so we're taking advantage of the availability of organic pumpkin to create some frozen treats for Tanner and Oliver. If it's too chilly where you live, tuck this recipe into your Summer plans and serve it whenever your pup can enjoy a cooling snack. |

Pumpkin Pupsicles
Mix about 1 cup lowfat plain yogurt with 1 cup mashed pumpkin. I use organic to know I'm giving Tanner and Oliver the best--no fertilizers, pesticides or synthetic preservatives. You can add a tablespoon of honey if you wish, but honestly that's more for our tastes than for theirs.

Spoon the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid. Pop the Pupsicles out and store for serving one at a time, depending on your Fido's size.
