Ahh, there is nothing better than a nice and hearty sloppy joe. Tender, juicy ground beef with just the right spices never gets old. But there is one drawback to this American classic... the mess! Sloppy joes are just as messy as ribs. Halfway through the sandwhich a third of the meat has landed on your plate, and your hands are covered in sticky sauce. Hence the name "sloppy" joes. But through some creative thinking and testing, our family's "Neat - to - Eat" sloppy joe recipe has definitely solved this age old problem with out sacrificing that wonderful taste. This recipe is sure to become a favorite! Have a look for yourself.
* Recipe makes a total of 8 sandwhiches
Ingredients
1 pound of ground beef
1/2 cup of cheddar cheese
1/2 cup of ketchup
1 small onion chopped
1 tablespoon of prepared mustard( preferably Gray Poupon mustard, but any other mustard will be fine)
2 teaspoons or Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 cans of (8 oz) refrigerated Crescent Rolls
a dash of pepper
Cooking Directions ( Preparation)
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. In pan on medium heat, cook meat until brown(drain any extra grease). Stir in cheese, ketchup, onion, mustard,Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, and continue cooking for another 1 to 2 minutes. Separate Crescent rolls into 8 rectangles, firmly pressing dough to remove any seam holes. Spoon in 1/4 of meat mixture into the center of each rectangle. Next, fold shorter ends of the rectangles to center overlapping slightly. Seal edges. Place on two ungreased cookie sheets seam side down. Bake 15-20 minutes or until brown. After they are cooked, let them stand and cool down before eating. Enjoy!
