How to Run a Dog on a Bike
Exercising is usually more fun when you have a partner, regardless of its species. Man's best friend not only usually enjoys a workout session, but often requires one to keep both its mind and body healthy. One way to exercise your dog and benefit from the experience yourself is to run your dog while riding your bike. Most dogs will not automatically start running next to their owners on the bike and need to be eased into the process. Being patient and helping your pooch get accustomed to this new type of training will likely result in a new favorite activity.

Introduce your dog to the bike. Allow your dog to sniff and investigate the bike until it is used to it. Move the bike around and wheel it slowly towards the dog. Again allow it to sniff and inspect the bike until it is comfortable.
2Attach the dog's leash to your bike's seat post. The seat post is the bike's center of gravity and will not experience any negative effects as a result of pulling the dog. Wrap the leash once around the post and slip the snap end of the leash through the handle. Pull on the leash until the slack is gone and the leash is attached to the post. Wrap the leash around the post until it is just long enough to attach to the dog's harness---avoid using a collar as it could result in neck injury. Avoid giving the leash too much slack, as you want to prevent the dog from being able to cross in front of the bike. Allow just enough so that the dog is situated in the middle of your front tire.

4Ride your bike slowly with your dog. Start on quiet streets and areas to help your dog feel more comfortable and less distracted by what is going on around it. Once it gets used to the bike, gradually increase the speed.
