Entries in the 12 bag giveaway of Organix Dog Food close at 5 PM tomorrow. While you're here, you may want to get that last effort in. The winners will be announced on Friday at our first weekly Fido's Freebie Friday Blog Hop where bloggers can list their giveaways and prizes. After that, we hope you'll enjoy reading our money-saving idea for using up your Organix crumbs from the bottom of the bag.
This sounds like a product review, right? Wrong! The All Things Dog Blog kitchen has been very busy lately, and our latest creation is going to help save you some cash. Here's our newest trick. You know those crumbs that you always end up with at the bottom of a bag of dog food? Well, we've come up with a crispy crunchy, super munchy recipe for using them up in dog cookies. Why waste them when your pup can still get great organic nutrition from those crumbs!
This last couple of weeks of sharing our journey to organics has been empowering for us. We've re-energized our commitment to staying with the healthiest dog food we can get for Tanner and Oliver. Sharing our tips and recipes has reminded us of all the fun we have engaging in our dog's enjoyment of their dinner.
If you make this recipe or a version of it, be sure to let us know how your unique recipe comes out. And by all means, share your recipes with us; we'd love to share them with our readers. And we'll be sure to give them a shot. Here's ours: |

Crispy Crunchy, Super MunchyOrganix Crumb Cookies
Ingredients:- 1 Cup Organix crumbs, finely crushed in your food processor
- 1-1/4 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 1/2 Cup Organic Rolled Oats
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
- 3/4 Cup Milk, reduced fat or fat free
- 1 Cup Organic or All Natural Peanut Butter (salt and sugar free is best)
- 1 Tablespoon Blackstrap Molasses
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- Whisk dry ingredients together.
- Stir in remaining ingredients gradually, until well mixed.
- Turn out onto a floured surface and knead to a soft dough.
- Roll out to 1/2" thick and use cookie cutters to create fun shapes (we used a paw print this time)
- Bake on cookie sheets for about 13 minutes. All ovens vary and the timing will vary by the thickness of the dough also.
- Cool and store in an airtight treat jar for a couple of weeks.
- These cookies freeze well. Extras can be frozen in small packages to remove for enjoyment later.
When all else fails, of course, you can always go out and buy the official Organix Treats. They're organic, delicious to the dogs, and no trouble in the kitchen. Thanks to all the folks at Castor and Pollux Pet who have made this product series such an enjoyable experience for us. Watch for the announcement of the dog food giveaway on Friday. Happy tails!
