Interesting Facts About the Halloween Hermit Crab



Here are some interesting facts about the beautiful and colorful Halloween Hermit Crab - a lovely exotic pet.

1.) Like janitor fish, it is a favorite aquarium pet for its ability to routinely clean algae.

2.) Halloween Hermit Crab is considered the most brightly colored hermit crab in normal aquarium use.

3.) Other common names of this beautiful aquarium pet include Orange Legged Hermit Crab and Striped hermit Crab.

4.) This marine creature of the Indo-Pacific region is commonly found along coral substrates and in the ocean and along sandy areas surrounding reefs.

5.) It can be found also in the Red Sea and is believed to have originated from Hawaii.

6.) This lovely-looking crustacean can grow up to 5.1 cm in length.

7.) This nocturnal animal lives primarily in cone shells.

14.) The Halloween Hermit Crab can eat quickly.

15.) This marine pet can eat any left-over food that settles along the bottom, sifts through the sand which aerates the aquarium substrate.

*Precaution: It has the tendency to attack and kill fish and other invertebrate in the tank.

*Remember to feed them with clams, mussels, shrimps and scallop.
