How to Stop My Dog From Drinking Water Out of the Toilet
Some dogs have a curious habit of doing things most humans would find disgusting. Eating its own feces or drinking out of the toilet are two things a dog might do. But drinking from the toilet is an unhealthy habit. It can lead to gastrointestinal problems for the dog due to the chemicals in toilet bowl cleaners or the bacteria that grows in stagnant toilet water. There are a few ways to break a dog of such a bad habit.

Close the bathroom door. This keeps the dog out of the bathroom.
2Close the lid on the toilet seat. This is one of the easiest ways to keep a dog out of the toilet, but you have to remember to keep the lid down.
3Have lots of fresh water available for the dog. In addition to using a bowl, you can use a pet water fountain. These are a bit more complicated than putting water into a bowl, but it might keep a dog interested enough to stop him from drinking toilet water.
4Give the dog cold water to drink. The toilet bowl water is cold and that could be the attraction for some dogs.
5Put ice cubes in the water bowl. This keeps the water cool throughout the day.
6Buy a metal or ceramic water bowl. These materials help to keep the water bowl a little cleaner than plastic water bowls. If bacteria builds up in a plastic bowl, it can change the taste of the water.
