How to Get a Dog to Drop a Bone
Dogs can be quite intent on chewing their bones, but sometimes you might need the dog to drop the bone. Teaching a dog to drop a bone is a good idea, because you can use the same command to make the dog drop a ball, another toy or an item it should not be chewing. 3Continue practicing the "drop it" command, but only giving the dog a treat about half the time that it drops the bone. Simply give verbal praise the other half of the times.
4Practice with the dog until it drops his bone (or any other item) on command, with or without a treat incentive.
