How to Bury Underground Dog Fences
The underground dog fence allows dog owners to contain dogs within the boundaries of the yard without a leash. The fence works with an underground wire, a base transmitter and a collar with a transmitter that will beep if the dog gets too close to the fence and give a shock if the dog continues to the boundary line. You can install the fence yourself with a few tools.

Choose the location where you will set up the transmitter. It must be indoors where it will not get wet or subject to the elements and close to a power outlet. Mount the transmitter with the screws that come in the kit. The location must be accessible to place the starting wire and the ending wire into the transmitter. A garage will work, or if inside the house, you will need to drill holes to feed the wire through. Do not plug the unit into the outlet.
2Use line chalk to mark the boundary where you will lay the wire. You can place the wire over driveways and sidewalks. Once the chalk line is made, prepare the ground.
3Use the shovel to make a 3-inch trench following the chalk line. If you are going over concrete, use a concrete saw to make a 2-inch cut in the cement.
4Hook the starting wire up to the transmitter. Lay the wire in the trench line. Continue around the boundary until you make your way back the transmitter. Hook the end wire into the unit.
5Plug the unit into the power outlet. Test the collar in your hand using its test button to make sure you have no breaks or interrupted service through the wire.
