Beautiful story about a Boy and his German Shepherd
I have a German Shepard who turned 1 year old on March 20, just 2 days ago. She was very ill and I didn't know what was wrong with her. She too had heartworm and I had gotten her shots to prevent this from happening (The vet said that although very rare, it has been known to happen).
I don't have alot of money as I live below the poverty limit. Some people told me to have my son, who is an excellent marksman, take my Bell out to the woods and shoot her. I never even gave it a second thought. I took my Samsung 49 inch flat screen high def TV that my dad had bought me for Christmas, to the local Pawn Shop. I got a whopping $243 for it and I had just gotten it 3 months ago. The Vet Bill was $275. By selling my VERY expensive camera, also bought by my dad, I was able to pay the Vet bill and all her meds.
She is doing great now. I would sell myself to save my baby. Just because a person is poor doesn't mean they can't have a dog and take care of it properly. Where there's a will, there's a way. Bell is my baby and like my human children, I would have done anything to save her. Do I miss my TV? Of course I do. But when I look into those beautiful big brown eyes, I know it was worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I've started putting small amounts of money aside every week so that if she ever gets sick again, I'll have what I need to take care of her!!
Do the right thing, get your baby to the vet!! I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I'd listened to everyone else and had her put down like that. Bell is happy and healthy now. She went to the vet for a follow up and he was amazed at how well she was doing. Loving Care goes a long way when trying to heal your pet!!
